I have been invited to a wedding in Krakow this summer - July and wanted to know if anybody has any tips or suggestions on accomodation as we wanted to stay for about 5 nights and there are so many hotels and self catering apartments
Just wanted to ask if anybody has any suggestions.
Also has anyone flown to Katowice ? as my nearest airport Coventry fly's there but not sure how far it is from centre of Krakow.
Thanks for any help and advice

Katowice airport is 50 miles from Krakow. Get a flight to Krakow it will be much less trouble.
Southern Poland in July is beautiful. I'm sure you'll enjoy your trip. If you get the chance go to Auschwitz (see it at least once in your life!) and go down to Zakopane which is a beautiful "alpine" mountain town.

Stayed here last year, http://www.royal.com.pl/en/index.php great location.. next to Wawel castle and a short walk to the main square.. also close for the Jewish District - Kazimierz - take alook at trip advisor forum for Krakow, plenty of advice on there.. http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowForum-g274772-i961-Krakow_Southern_Poland.html
booked it via hotel pronto, good reviews on trip advisor.. it is kinda old fashioned, art deco in style.. I liked it anyway
Auschwitz a definate must.. I enjoyed the Salt mines also, went in Feb and was freezing.. would love to go again in the summer months.. Lovely place
not sure on the flights, know Ryanair and Easyjet do cheap flights to Krakow, dunno if they fly from Coventry tho?0 -
We stayed here http://www.pollera.com.pl/en/index.htm it is literally two minutes from the main square. I agree with the others about Auschwitz, we had a taxi for the day that took us there, check out days and times for the English speaking guide, your hotel should be able to tell you this, altho on reflection I think picking a guide book up on arrival and working your own way around would be far better. Our guide was only interested in telling us about the polish prisoners of war, you would have thought that the Jewish population that went thro there never existed. Your driver will then take you up the road to Birkenau. If you go down into the one of the Synagogues you can pick a book up entitled the Holocaust walk??? This you can follow from the square, over the river and it will guide you around what was the Ghetto area and also to Oskar Schindlers factory.0

We always stay here http://www.grodzka.net.pl/ in Krakow now. It's right on the main square, the apartments are lovely and the staff are really helpful. They run a travel agent from the office on the ground floor as well, and can organise taxis and tours for you if you want them. When I had my loft converted back into a loft, the neighbours came around and scoffed, and called me retro.0

If you're flying from Coventry to Katowice then I'm guessing you're flying with Wizzair. If so, then book a coach transfer with them online to take you to Krakow. I did this last time and it only cost about £ 15 and is very hassle free. The journey takes about 2 hours.
I think CentralWings might fly directly to Krakow from Birmingham. No Unapproved or Personal links in signatures please - FT30 -
thank you very much for all the advice - I will take a look at all the accomodation mentioned and think will fly into Krakow !!!
Cheers
