An OS query - cleaning wrought iron on hob?

Options
Hello everyone

I wonder if you can help me. I recently treated myself to a fabby stainless steel gas hob, with wrought iron (it may be imitation, not sure) over the hobs (I'm sure there is a correct name, but I hope you get the gist!)

Anyway, I was wondering what the best way to clean them is? I tried scrubbing them with my dishcloth, but lots of the cotton caught on the iron :o . I know I am probably being really silly, but is there any better way to clean them? x
MFW :)

    Hmm... :)

If you can tell us the make and model of your hob we can hopefully find a picture of one on line somewhere that might help us to help you.

I'm guessing that the pan grids will lift off? So in the sink and use a pan scrub? I put mine in the bottom tray of the dishwasher and then put any pots and pans in there as normal.

  • Hi Squeaky, sorry, was quite a vague post wasn't it! Yes, the pan grids do lift off - this is my hob... http://www.comet.co.uk/cometbrowse/product.do?sku=200107 :)

I don't have a dishwasher so will be doing them by hand... x

  • you could soak in a soda crystal & water solution in the sink for a bit first that will make it easier to clean

    :)

One trick that often work with pans, so should work here, is to soak them overnight in a washing up bowl and biological washing powder. They should only need a light going over with a pan scrub then.

    HTH :)
