How to move a shed?

Hi
In the garden for the house i bought a while ago there is a 7 x 5 shed which is about 3 foot away from a corner of the garden, Id like to move it to make better use of the space.
How easy (or indeed possible!!) is it to move it. It seems fairly sturdy with bolts through rather than nails.
Is it better to dismantle the shed (again if possible!!) or would it be fasible to just shift it? Any tips?!

If you can pick it up and move it in one piece it would be easier
But I bet it weighs a tonne
I'm guessing you will have to remove the felt and replace it when you have moved it. Depends if the roof is one or two pieces.
Basically, take apart, move, refit together. EasyFreedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
if it's really heavy try rolling rather than lifting it, i used scaffolding posts to roll mine halfway accross my allotment.0

Thanks - ive had a bit of a go today - can get the roof off infortunately and it weighs a ton!!!
Id heard of rolling but cant find anything suitable about. It will be a shame not to keep it as its a solid shed0 -
:rotfl: my mums friend put her shed on wheels lol:rotfl:0

I moved my garden shed last summer and had the same problem as you. Even when they are empty they weigh a tonne.
The way I done it was to hire a pallet truck from speedy hire. Just to make sure the weight was evenley spread underneath I put 2 large planks on each of the forks.
It worked a treat.
Good luck.0 -
I moved a 6ft shed a few years ago from one side of the garden to the other.
I used a large piece of thick wood to lever it up to allow me to pop a couple of broom shanks underneath.
I then rolled it along and kept moving the shanks from the back of the shed around to the front to create a continuous set of rollers.
Worked a treat.
Much the same as using scaffold poles but a lot easier to ge hold of.
I would aim to get at least 6 shanks to move your 8ft shed.0 -
I had a shed stolen out of one of the gardens of a rented property. The only way for it to leave the garden was over a 6 foot fence. It was discovered in a neighbours garden covered in bushes - turns out the local children "took it" and they promised to return it which they duly did. Put it like this, it didn't travel well and had to be smashed to bits and taken to the tip. I wish I had witnessed them lifting it over a 6 foot fence and the back again :rotfl:
Good luck OP!0
