15" LCD TV £189.99 @ Kwiksave

Noticed a reasonable stock of Alba 15" lcd tvs in local Kwiksave for £189.99.

They still had the DVD + recorder for £89.99, too.
Moi....? ;)

I`ve been after a lcd tv for a while. Boots have the alba 15"lcd for 199.99. Athough its out of stock...when it comes back into stock you can use the 10% code and triple points to bring the cost well below the quicksave one.

    Regards

  • I spotted a 20" model in Asda for (IIRC) around the £230/£240 mark. I only scanned past it because I was looking at the 26" model (£499 btw).

Might be worth an extra £40/£50 for the extra 5" (makes all the difference according to my missus!)

The model in ASDA is a Relsys. IMHO the picture quality is utter s***e.

The large 26inch DUAL one for £499 is VERY good.

    Huge difference in price though.

i though relisys was meant be really good. no???
  • I must admit, the picture quality seemed ok to me when I saw it - couldn't really see much difference between the 2 pictures.

One thing to note is that obviously the picture displayed can only be as good as the input - so if the arial isn't plugged in very well, or the scart is a little bit loose, then the picture is going to suffer.

A while ago when I was looking at some larger LCDs, I went into Comet for a look at them in the flesh. Every single one of them looked terrible, so went next door to Currys and noticed that some of the same models looked fantastic - so I can only presume that Comet had a bad arial or something.

If in doubt though, at least with the likes of Asda, you can always take it back if it doesn't live upto expectation.

I saw the Relsys one next to a number of CRT displays in ASDA in Yarmouth. They were all showing tennis at Winbledon.

The Relsys one had a horrible soft focus across the entire screen and awful artifacting around the white court lines. The CRT displays were all OK so I don't think it's a case of having a different input.

I saw the same model in ADSA Norwich a week or so ago. I can't remember what was being shown, but again, the image was very soft - a bit like a bad MPEG recording.
