Absolutely disgusted with certain landlords

My brother is seeing a young lady who is way behind his years.

She is 21 and is currently in shared accomodation.

I could not believe what I heard when she told me.

One room in a three bed terraced house, the living room being the fourth bedroom. 80 pounds a week!!!!

In Preston where a 3 bed terrace costs 500 tops

I sincerely hope that all the crappy landlords that offer this type of accomodation at this price die inthe pit of hades.

You rip off, advantage taking, price fixing, no morals piece of dog dirt.

Dirty dirty scoundrels, I hope they lose everything in the pending property crash,
Horrible horrible people.

disgusting. and they all seem to have the same surname. Bizzarely

The average for bedsit/shared houses by us is £65-70 per week.
I dont have a problem with the price to rent, only when a landlord expects a person to live in a craphole.

I would certainly be annoyed if the place was a dump and badly looked after by the landlord, but if its a nice place and has been done up to a good standard, then £80 incl bills, would seem reasonable.

But I suppose it comes down to supply and demand.

    Good post though dazco

In Preston what are the council tax, water rates, gas and electricity costs for the 500 Pound house and a one bedroom flat? Which of those are included in the 80 a week? Is internet included, as it often is these days?

In a cheap part of this town it's about 625 a month for a one bedroom flat including council tax, water, gas and electricity. That's 144 a week. Rent alone is around 100 a week. More space and privacy but if you need to cut bills, a room is one way.

How does that 80 compare to 144 or even just 100 a week?
  • There is no law that says ALL landlords have to be angels.

Just as there is no gaurantee that all tenants will look after my property.

    I'm surprised that you're surprised.

The world is a tough place and you need your wits about you or you will most definitely get ripped off, robbed or worse.

That's the craziest surname I ever did hear!

John Bizzarely? Kate Bizzarely? Steve Bizzarely?

Who on earth would rent from such people? :D

Reminds me of a family I once knew with a strange surname too.

Jack Schitt is the only son of Awe Schitt.
Awe Schitt, the fertilizer magnate, married Miss O. Needeep They had one son, Jack.
In turn, Jack Schitt married Noe Schitt. The deeply religious couple produced six children: Holie Schitt, Giva Schitt, Fulla Schitt, Bull Schitt, and the twins Deap Schitt and Dip Schitt.
Against her parents' objections, Deap Schitt married her cousin Dumb Schitt, a high school dropout. After being married 15 years, Jack and Noe Schitt divorced.
Noe Schitt later married Ted Sherlock, and, because her kids were living with them, she wanted to keep her previous name. She was then known as Noe Schitt Sherlock.
Meanwhile, Dip Schitt married Loda Schitt, and they produced a son with a rather nervous disposition named Chick N. Schitt.
Two of the other six children, Fulla Schitt and Giva Schitt, were inseparable throughout childhood and subsequently married the Happens brothers in a dual ceremony.
The wedding announcement in the newspaper announced the Schitt-Happens nuptials.
The Schitt-Happens children were Dawg, Byrd, and Hoarse. Bull Schitt, the prodigal son, left home to tour the world. He recently returned from Italy with his new Italian bride, Pisa Schitt.

Where I live, £500 will barely get you a one bedroom flat. No bills included.

It's all about supply and demand.
