Dixons extended warranty "offers"

I went into Dixons to buy a Freeview box. Naturally I didn't want to purchase their poxy extended warranty insurance.
But when I said I didn't want it I was then offered it at half price - it was such a quick-fire response that it wasn't rehearsed. Would they have made that offer if I had said "yes" first time? I somehow doubt it. Surely that's a discriminatory offer?
The half price deal should clearly be offered to everyone at the first opportunity.
Has anyone else had this experience or is it just my local Dixon's branch?Worth any MSErs heading into town tomorrow testing this one out?

It is my experience with most electrical shops that if you refuse the warranty they will halve the price immediately.0

This is commonplace across the Dixons Group (Currys, PC World etc). I refused to pay for a 5 year warranty on a new PC (several years ago) when it was first offerred at £400. In the end they came down to £175 and I am not a good haggler at all!0
