Student bank accounts for postgraduate study?

Options
I am going to start my PGCE in september. Since I have already done my degree 11 years ago, I am no longer an undergraduate.

I was wondering if I am still able to get a student bank account as I am still classed as a student?

If so, which one would people recommend?

THanks
Gilly

Abbey do a postgrad account, I think they're the only ones.

As for student accounts, I don't know. I'm in the same boat, as I'm doing a masters starting September. It would probably depend on the individual bank. I'm just planning on seeing what my current bank can offer, and then touting round to see what the best deal is.

My understanding is that most banks count postgraduate study as eligible for a student account. I don't know if being out of education for a while will have an effect on you, but for those going straight from undergrad to postgrad it seems to be a case (with me and the Halifax anyway) of going in to a branch, waving a letter around and another year of student account status is yours for the taking.

Most banks treat postgrads the same as undergrads. shop around for the best deal for you. You may not get the new account opening deals (I didn't get a railcard etc) but you can still get the interest free overdraft and free credit card. HSBC were pretty good for me, but I was only out of education for two years, not 11.
