Lloyds TSB - 2 steps forward, 10 steps back!

My husband has been on a debt management plan with CCCS now for 2 years and has had the gradual increase in payments to creditors as he has had wage rises and also as creditors have been paid off.

However in all this time the only company he has had problems with is Lloyds TSB.

In the past two months they have added £400 worth of charges onto his account (overdraft) which has tripled the balance of the account. They won't budge on these charges no matter how many times he has called.

He doesn't use this account as we were paying the overdraft off through CCCS, however these charges that have been added on don't seem to be justified as we have been making the regular payments onto the account.

Is there anything we can do about it or do we just have to live with the fact that some creditors are awful?

  • Hi,

I am on a DMP also with CCCS, and one of my creditors is Lloyds TSB, I owe them the most money through an overdraft, loan and CC.
I was warned by CCCS that Lloyds will be the most difficult and that they tend to sell their debts off.
I dont know if there is anything you can do, but just wanted to say i was warned that they are difficult to deal with.

Finally dealing with my whopping debt!
  • we are currently snowballing my bf credit cards we have managed to get lower interest on 3 of his 4 cards guess which company WONT HELP AT ALL ..... yes you guessed LLOYDS TSB so un helpful its beyond belief !! so good luck ! PAULA X
  • Unfortunately i have to say i am having exactly the same problem with Lloyds tsb. Just started our DMP with payplan and for the past 2mths have had charges equalling £400 and yep you guessed it, its an overdraft where paying off, exactly the same as you.

We've had no success when we ring either. I sent a complaint letter 2 weeks ago about it, outlining the fact that in the dealing with debt information they have on the website, it says something along the lines of helping customers out. My letter included that in no way at all have i seen this happen.

Im waiting to hear back from them....

I have a complaint against Lloyds-TSB with he Financial Ombudsman - they have mislaid/lost over 20 plus letters I have sent them (all recorded delivery so I can prove receipt); agreed a repayment arrangement with me and then referred the matter to their solicitors despite the fact I was paying as arranged! I called their bluff and said I was happy to go to court - they dropped the threatened legal action.
In one letter to me they virtually admitted that their collections centre couldn't cope..........says it all really.
  • I left lloyds after 20 odd years cos they jusy money grab everyway they can and add charges all the time. vote with your feet people.

Seems like the banks operate in pretty much the same way! Nat West gave us a CCJ for Christmas against a 5k overdraft which is included in our DMP, and even after we had increased their payment...fighting it and them at the moment! Why not threaten them with court action??? Fight back!!! Do not be intimidated by bully boy tactics dished out by banks!!!!

  • We are having same probs with LLoyds too. DH no longer uses this accont apart from monthly payments from an old loan. But they have chrged us £300+ so far just for charges. So annoying!! I hate them.

We are trying to put money in it but as soon as we do they take it all out and we are overdrawn STILL...hence more charges.

Lloyds are the worst in my eyes. Hope your problems sort out soon

  • Hi

I have had exactly the same experience with lloydstsb, they have added another £400 onto my debt with them which is being paid by dmp with cccs, this equates to 40% of the original o/d. With my business account they just went straight for ccj. I hate them as well .
  • I'm so glad TSB upset me as a teenager as they sound bad, my crime was going 1p into an unathorised O/D and the manager had a go at me. Never set foot in a branch since.
Abbey seem to be going the same way, no intention of freezing charges, interest or trying to help.

Trying to construct a letter to send to them but it is difficult to know what to put in it, almost feel like saying that because they are being uncooperative we refuse to make any more payments until they refund us the £400 in charges.
