I dont want to go into details here but we are buying a house that is up with an Estate Agent. There are 2 agents there. One of them is helpful, can-do attitude, diplomat and has excellent communication skills, its only due to this person and my OH (who negociates for a living), and LOTS of patience, that we have kept the sale on track as the vendor is a bit of a nightmare (the Estate told us this off the record). My OH has a very good relationship with her.The other agent is so arrogant and rude, and my OH has had to put him straight on one occasion,we always ask to speak to the other one. Something has happened now,and its not the first time the first agent appears to be doing his best to sabotage the sale.Should we be within our rights to speak to someone higher up at another branch maybe and explain that we do not want to deal with this agent any more? Our Solicitor says what he has done is incredibly unproffessional and she has never known anything like it.We have had a protracted sale anyway,if he would stop sticking his oar in,we would get this thing done with.

what have you got to lose my going to higher management ? if they are not providing you wiht a good service, complain ....0

I would go to the manager and say that you don't want this person dealing with the transaction and why. You are the customer so you call the shots.
If the person you don't like calls, tell him that you won't talk to him and tell him it's because he's unprofessional and putting the sale in jeopardy. Then complain to the manager again. They'll get the message pretty quickly.0 -
I had an estate agent that treated me very shabbily when I went to go onto their list of people looking for property. He sneered at me, looked down at me and with a face like an alsation licking pee from a stinging nettle asked me how I was going to pay for a house ... and did I realise that lenders don't like lending to single women.... Yes, he did. And in only 2000 too!
I did buy a house in the end and when I wanted to sell, I phoned up for a valuation (I called them all) and I specifically said I did not want to deal with the "rude sexist pig" and they didn't send him round, they sent the cute one instead. Win.
Just tell it how it is. You're paying for a service. The customer is king.0 -
Thanks,I feel like I have been kicked in the teeth tbh.OH is all for going down there tomorrow and speaking to him face to face-and OH is a force to be reckoned with in an argument, believe me.I have got to the point today where, much as I wanted this house, this is the last straw and I feel like saying -stick it. But we are not paying the agent,so we are not the customer, the vendor is.,am not sure even if we did decide to go through with it,we have any power. Not even sure if they have a Manager there.0
