I recently took advantage of the k750i offer on orange at onestopphoneshop. I already have a contract with orange so I knew a credit check wouldn't be necessary.
Today I recieved this email from onestopphoneshop.
Following this I phoned orange a couple of times to see what was going on.
They informed me that,
1: A credit check had not been performed.
2: My credit limit is high enough to allow me to have at least a futher three contracts with orange.
3: If I apply for a contract they will not perform a credit check and any information about any internal checks are not governed by the data protection act.
4: Orange asked if I would like to sign up to another contract over the phone
5: They have no record of any correspondence with OSPS regarding my relationship with orange.
Do OSPS often do this?
They don't even have an alternative geographical number, so there's no way to get through to customer services without using email. Their sales team barely give enuogh time for the phone to ring before answering but will not put me through to customer services.
They take at least three days to respond to mail.
I think this is the last time I deal with OSPS, their cashback terms are very dubious and longdrawn out anyway.
Today I recieved this email from onestopphoneshop.
With regards to your recent order, I am sorry to have to inform you that the network you applied to has declined your order. Under the Data Protection Act we are not aware of the reasons for the decline.
However, if you would like to try another network please contact me on the number below and I am sure that an equally attractive deal can be arranged for you.
Many thanks

I can't remember if it was OSPS but a few years ago when the 7650 first came out they were offering it FOC with a new contract on t-mobile. I currently have a contract with t-mobile (and also work for them) so i knew there wouldn't be a problem. I applied for the phone and 48 hours later received an e-mail back from them declining my application. I called t-mobile up who advised me that there had been no contact and also i was able to take out another 2-3 lines. Fair enough - went back to the e-tailer, e-mailed regarding this and was told i'd need to fill out my application again which i did. It was only at this point when the application went through!! It makes me think if they do it that way that a high proportion of the applicants don't bother questioning it?!?!First name Mister

update on this one, ongoing emails.I have just spoken to orange and they have informed me that a credit check has not been made. They have also informed me that they have had no correspondence with onstopphone shop about any application for a contract in my name, which is verification that the sentence below,
"I am sorry to have to inform you that the network you applied to has declined your order"
is an outright lie.
They've also informed me that information about an application for a mobile phone contract, is only bound by the 'data protection act' when a credit check is processed. So given this I think you should tell me what is going on here and why you are wasting my time?

0845 456 7878Dear onestopphoneshop,
I apologise for the delay in this email but I've been away.
I wish to pursue this matter because I feel that you have falsely advertised your product and misled me. I have asked that orange send a letter confirming that they have had no contact with your organisation about a contract application and I will send this to you soon. I'm unhappy that your organisation chose to lie to me about the reason why you were unable to provide the said mobile phone product. You have unnecessarily made me expend effort already and I have no qualms with pursuing this matter to ensure the time of future customers is not wasted either.

OSPS lied to me in December. I ordered a phone online , it never arrived and when i rang to ask why, OSPs told me i had been turned down by orange for a contract. I was surprised as i had a current Orange contract and had been a model customer. When I rang Orange to find out why, they said they had never been contacted by OSPS, and certainly never asked for a credit check.
Later my partner took out a OSPS contract and they sent TW0 phones , and started two contracts at Orange instead of one, they then failed to cancel one contract even after one phone was returned to them. They denied receiving it back, thank goodness for recorded delivery. I had proof they had received it , even so It took ages and a lot of help from Orange before things were sorted out and monies refunded. OSPS are morons.0
