Is there any way in the HL website to show the total value of your portfolio over time? Any ideas? I get six-monthly statements but would prefer a moving graph like you can get for the individual funds.

Not as far as I know. The only tool I know that does this is morningstar's portfolio manager. Once you've added all your transactions into a portfolio, if you click on the 'performance' tab in the portfolio pages it will show you a graph of how your portfolio has performed over time.0

I agree with Munk - in fact the portfolio manager and x-ray tool on Morningstar are blooming marvellous for a 'novice'. Just set up the basic portfolio with your fund percentages and you can come back to it daily if you must (!!!) should you choose to add to your weakened state. It really is very good.
The H-L site and info is very basic when you look closer and I'm not surprised to read comments on how old-fashioned it seems. That remains my one nagging doubt about the whole set-up - but maybe that's how they manage to recoup some of their costs. Fidelity's client portflio analysis by comparison is super space-age but you pay for it in costs so it seems to me.

H-L recently floated at £650 million and made 18 millionaire employees from it. I'm sure they can afford to buy some graphics software!
Come on H-L !0 -
Morningstar's x-ray is very good for a freebie. If you dont mind doing it bit of inputting then that is probably the best option for you if your fund supermarket doesnt offer a portfolio analysis.
Personally I use Financial Express analytics but if that wasnt available, the morningstar would be next. You cannot use analytics so morningstar would be your best bet.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
