Help

I have rented my house from the same private landlord through the agent easylet. The boiler has played up for the last year. Last sunday it gave up the ghost and no hot water.

I rang easylet on monday they sent a man round...hmmm you need a new boiler. He took pictures and off he went.

I rang easylet they said the man had given them a quote and pictures which they had e-mailed my landlord (He lives in turkey)

Have heard nothing.

Rang today for an update and was told still wating for a reply to the email from the landlord and they couldnt do anything until he said so!! I had been waiting thinking things were on the move for a new boiler!

So i am still with no hot water! The landlord is never quick to do any repairs at all.

Can anyone offer any advice on my rights and what i can do to hurry things along? Surely HOT water should be a priority!

It`s strange but LA`s seem to take a lot of money for doing not a lot..from LL and tenant

Hi, I am no expert....but...Couldn't you buy a new boiler yourself and deduct it from the rent money? (unless your on HB paid directly to the landlord) I'm sure there are certain rules that should be adhered to re;having no water ect but how they are enforced I havn't a clue!

I'm sure someone will be along to help very soon,

    good luck.

Nice idea , doesnt work like that though

which is handy for everyone BUT the tenant
  • thanks for quick replying..Lenting agents are rubbish! While MR LL is sunning himself in Turkey we are suffering. I looked at my lease and it says he is responsible for majour repairs etc but nothing about a length of time they have to be done by. Are there standards on this sort of thing?
The Letting agent wont do a thing until he says to!

the letting agent cannot do anything without the landlords permission.

if you do not get a reply by early next week, i would go to your local councils private housing officer and talk to them. If they write to the LA this may galvanise them into action.
