At last a free Directory Enquiries number from a landline.

0800 100 100.

Just tried it-took 4 mins to answer-thats my phone bill lower then!
You get transferred through to a recorded message after you have spoken to the operator-then you have to listen to a short advertisement-then you get your number.

It is NOT repeat NOT free to mobiles-despite what the company have been saying.

Anyone know anything about this one?

It says so on Magsys.co.uk. Click on edit on the menu bar then click on find on this page then enter the number without any spaces to find the number + details.

Which, 118 433? I find this hard to believe. I tried making a few enquiries about this however I can't seem to find 1RT Group's website. I tried googling this, this morning.

Yup 118 433-it doesnt ring out- it says the number you have dialled has not been recognised.and the way you describe the website bears no relation to what i looked at-but maybe thats just me!Edit-googled the link- its suggesting this service has not yet started.Why are you finding it hard to believe?

EDIT_WARNING _THAT COMPANY 118 433 HAS BEEN FINED FOR FAX SPAM AND PREMIUM RATE NUMBERS!!!!!!!!

I googled 1rt group-its not a case of what they have done-more like theres not much left they havent done(wrong)eg missed call scam..and fined £5000 for spam faxes..£10000 fine from Ofcom,misuse of personal numbers..Their accounts are overdue and companies house has a proposal to strike them off..shall I continue?

I tried it, and it worked ok (it apparently didn't register with them as a mobile phone as I didn't get a text message).

Unfortunately the number they gave me was incorrect, (I had asked for my local library's number), I waskept on hold for a long time prior to speaking to the lady (the call took over 7 minutes), (oh - and the promotional message I got was asking me if I was interested in advertising with them!)

What’s the outcome with 0800 100 100? Would people use this if they were put on hold for as long as Quentin and then given the wrong number? Somehow I have my doubts about this and would reconsider using this service if that’s the case, be it free or not.
