Recipe help - bakewell tart

    Hi, I made a bakewell tart a few weeks ago but fogot to save recipe, I vaguely rmrmber it not having eggs, but thats not important, I've just promised to make one tonight and wondered if anyone had a tried and tested recipe.:D Thanks
    Starting to save £2 coins again, but it is a struggle:rotfl:Not doing very well keep spending them

    I used to make something similar they were just jam tart bases with a smear of jam, almond flavour sponge and a little plain icing on top they were very simple but I just made it up I didn't have a recipe..

    Thats the way to do it, and much nicer than Mr Kipling.

    For the sponge, take out some flour, put in some ground almonds.

  • I haven't checked the other thread, and may well have already linked this there... but I really adore this recipe, and I'm not even that fond of the Mr K version!

    Cherry Bakewell Tarts - she makes them in muffin tins, but I've also made them in a standard tart tin and as a traybake. Always comes out perfect.
