confused over paypal

I have been signed up with ebay and paypal since about 2004. I don't use it much but have bought a couple of items recently and have noted that whilst I have paid immediately the auction has finished or as soon as I receive the Seller's invoice, my ebay shows the payment as pending and this goes on for days.....................

I queried this with one of my recent purchasers and the seller has replied today advising that I have sent an "e-cheque" How? I thought when you paid via paypal, that was it, the money was transferred over. The money normally disapears from my account 2 to 3 days after I have made payment. I am not aware that I am selecting any "e cheque" option and as it seems these "e cheques" take 14 days to clear, its a tad confusing and annoying....

Can anyone enlighten me???

  • Have you updated the card details that you have attached to your PP account? E-cheques are normally sent if the card attached has expired details!

Yes! The exact same thing has been happening to me, my card hasn't expired, but it is making me pay by echeque and it is taking days. THIS IS SO ANNOYING!!! I don't know why it has just started doing this. Any help would be greatly appreciated, it has been happening for about two weeks, god knows how annoyed the sellers must be to be kept waiting.

Just had a look then at the penpal q&a section and it mentions that you can only pay by echeque for security reasons, i.e. there has been unusual activity on your account. Well, I don't know what the hell this means, I just messaged them so I will see what they have to say.

just another way of paypal maximizing their profits as they will make 3% on the transaction yet it cost them nothing.
