No more "grape treading" duvets in the bathtub for me!

They already sort of make this idea, those dual season duvets which you fasten together.
Personally we have 2 thin summer duvets (instead of the expensive double pack) which then use 2 of when it's cold (you can put them in one cover or 2), comes in handy as a spare for guests when not being used, I find the thin kingsize summer ones (I think they are 4 tog or something) fit in my washer and drier ok. I was told that any duvet inc single can break a washer but I've been doing it for years and it's not broken one yet.
I'm considering a steam cleaner at the minute which I would also use on the duvets, mainly for bug killing. One day I might be more organised...........

*Tine reminds herself she REALLY should take her duvets to the laundrette this weekend for a much needed wash...*
Love the idea but can bear to think of chopping up my beloved duvet - maybe I'll buy a cheap one for the guestroom tho and try with that? HmmmmDFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

Yes I had a dual-duvet, a 4.5 and a 10.5 tog, making 15 tog for winter, double size, and the 10.5 one wouldnt fit in my washer... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

I thought that rosieben which is why I chose the 2 thin one option, I doubt I could cope with 15 togs.
Oh and the bit about the rescues, check each's policy, our local one will take duvets regardless of size/condition and they wash/resize themselves, just incase that puts some off donating them. One day I might be more organised...........

Brilliant ideas..............both the cutting a double and tacking it together and using two singles instead of a double................I often wake up with a miniscule bit of duvet, normally in the depth of winter !
Our laundrette is in town but no way could I carry our duvet there, plus it seems to take forever to dry as I put yet another coin in the slot, wander off for another coffee before going back and re-filling the slot with coinage - again !
Singles would fit into our washing machine no problem.......:TMary
I'm creative -you can't expect me to be neat too !

2 thin ones is a much better option Lil-me, mine was way too bulky apart from anything else;... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

Could also sew a couple of press-studs to rejoin the cut in half duvet. Brilliant idea.0
