e-on v British gas-how are discounts applied++

Can anyone clarify the discounts applied to these two accounts?
1. Do British Gas apply the discounts each quarter? on the bill?
2. When do E-on give you your discounts? Do we have to wait one year??

Am an ex-EDF customer, trying to weigh it all up. E-On have better customer feedback...
But British Gas beat them on price
Any help gratefully received.

Thanks all

    Don't know about British Gas but E.ON apply discounts every quarter. Dual fuel customers who pay by monthly direct debit get a 9% discount every quarter.
