We gave up buying cheap TV's. We got a 28" CRT TV from ASDA many years ago and it broke just after a year. Luckily they did 3 years free guarantee at the time so we got it replaced with the same model. (Which oddly enough they hadn't been selling since we brought it but then suddenly had another load in) This lasted about 6 months before braking down again so that had to go back we then replaced it with a Bush Tv from ASDA and this lasted the record time of 10 minutes.

After all this we decided to just give up with cheap TVs and get a Samsung from John Lewis which is just about to end its 5 years guarantee and it hasn't broken down once.

  • We had porblems with our Acoustic solutions 32 in tv within 3 months of having it.We got the number to ring from Argos and a bloke came and picked it up.He said they had lots of them with problems and knew it couldnt be fixed but it still took apporx 3 weeks for them to tell us that and we eventually got a refund. We could of had cash but we had it put on a giftcard as we had just moved house and was going to spend it in argos anyway

The bloke who picked ours up said loads were being returned

i went into argos and asked how i go about it as it is quite large and they said some of there teles have a home engineer thingymagig where someone comes and sorts it out at my house.

I'm wondering has anyone else had a prob with an acoustic solutions tv(i can't rememer the model number of the top of my head but it's a lcd 19inch widescreen hd ready, thee was a thread on here about it when it was on offe) and if so did someone come out to you and fix it or did the tv end up being returned to the store the only reason i ask is cs i don't want it fixing i just want it replaced f a brand new tv can't last 12 months then how long is one thats had to mended going to last.thnks for any help

 a 19" tv is large??? I dont think so! I took a 32" back last week (Acoustic Solutions actually, was only £300 but a rubbish tv)

Hi I Bought A 32 Bush Lcd From Argos Last November Only Had It 2 Months And Started Malfucioning Argos Sent An Engineer Out Who Opened The Tv In My Living Room And Started Soldering Stuff All Was Good For A Couple Of Weeks Then Tv Started Malfuncioning Again Argos Replaced The Tv But Now Im Out Of Guarantee And Im Noticing A Thin Vertical Line Down My Tv When White Colours Are On A Tv Programme Wished Id Taken The Extra Warranty Out.most Companys Have A Policy Were They Can Only Fix It A Couple Of Times Before Replacing It.tell Argos Cs U Dont Want It Fixed U Want It Replaced

It should be pointed out that goods have to be fit for the purpose, and just because it is out of guarantee does not mean you can not take the matter to small claims, it is not unreasonable for a TV to last 5 years, or 10 years for a fridge.
My Mind wanders, if found please return.

    Hi All
I Bought One Of These Acoustic Solution 19" Tv's From Argos In January Of This Year And Now In July It Has Given Nothing But Trouble ,the Freeview On It Stopped Working! .brought It Back To Argos And It Is Now Sent Away For Repair As Terms Are Repair Replace.refund.then That Day The Help Desk Phoned Me, This Make I Have Found Out Is Argos Own Brand And Yes They Have Set Up A Helpdesk Just For This Because These Tv's Are Giving So Much Trouble.now I Do Not Want This Tv Back Because This May Happen Again .can Anyone Advise Me That When Argos Phones Me To Pick Up My Repaired Tv Do I Have To Except It Or Can I Demand A Replacement And Not This Make But Another Even If I Do Have To Add A Little Money To It.this Tv Is Not Fit For Purpose And Argos Knows It .infact I Would Advise Anyone Before Buying This Make Of Tv Think Very Carefully Because You Get What You Pay For ,rubbish!
  • You cant just ask for a refund because any product u buy even if it is a kettle or something small and silly. can still be reapired as it states in the sales of goods act so each manafacteur can repair any item as many times as necessary altbhough some have policies so that after the 3rd or something similar they will exchange. obvisously it is not worth repairing kettles etc. small items hence why you get a exchange but if a company was very picky they could wish to repair it.

Wrong. Sales of good act states that if an item is faulty the customer can expect a full refund. The manufacturer can offer a repair but the customer does not have to accept. As long as the goods are not 'fit for purpose,' a refund is due. I have reminded many a company of this and it has never failed because the said company knows that I am right and that any county court judge will see it the same way.
