I'm a bit confused here, AVG scan has picked up 2 Trojans in Age of Empire PC game.
These are them
closedpw.exe
Trojan horse Generic9.AZFC
Microsoft games\Age of Empires\data2\closedpw.exe
The other one is same but in just 'data' rather than 'data2'.
This is a shop bought game, not pirated, and has been on my computer for ages. Have run many scans that have not picked anything up. Why now?
Should i just re-install game.

It looks like it could be AVG flagging up a false.
Put your Age of Empires CD in and see if you can find a file called closedpw.exe, if you can then AVG is reporting incorrectly. It's taken me years of experience to get this cynical0 -
I agree with Reggie, most likely a false positive. Probably a new addition to the scan in the latest definition updates which is why it never picked it up before. When you've done what Reggie suggested, there should be an option in AVG to submit the files to Grisoft/AVG to allow them to analyse them and account for the false positive in the next update."She is quite the oddball. Scanned my AOE I disk and I got the same result, I guess it must be a false positive?"A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

I did a quick goog' and it lead to this page, can't be a big deal. There are 10 types of people in the world; those who understand binary and those who don't...0

AVG just said today that some closedpw.exe files in my Age of Empires folders were Trojans. Based on this thread, I guess it's nothing to worry about.0

AVG has recently flagged false positives, it flagged Kodak Easyshare program which is several years old with a trojan, false positive, now corrected by AVG, and it has just flagged another program as having a trojan, but this is yet another false positive.
If you have concerns do an online scan with another manufacturer of anti-virus.0 -
If you are ever unsure of a file that has been flagged by AV you can always upload it to Virus TotalHope for the best.....Plan for the worst!
