    Morning all,

Wife woke up this morning to find her car had been nicked. Bit of a shame, but fortunately we bought another car for me last week, so she could use that today. Feel a bit gutted though.

Found the car round the corner, with the passenger door bent and broken.

  • OMFG just had the scare of my life! Was doing the girls some beans on toast... took the beans out of the microwave and closed the door... it hadn't finished so started up again and then it started sparking and popping like there was tonnes of metal in there!! But there was nothing in there at all.. jumped out of my skin and chucked beans everywhere before turning it off at the wall!!!!
I'm still shaking.. and covered in bean juice....

  • lol thanks for the sympathy :rotfl:
Seriously though it was like a sketch out of final destination.. I flung the beans and they went all over the ON microwave and the ON toaster:eek:
Could just imagine it... microwave blows up, I throw beans.. get electrocuted by toaster... fall backwards onto a knife and then through a plate glass window or something! :rotfl:

If the microwave has nothing to heat, then it will struggle when it's turned on.

The food absorbs the microwave energy. Without the food, the energy builds up quickly until the air/water vapour in the microwave starts to absorb the energy. As you will appreciate, there's very little of that (by weight) inside your microwave, and 600-800W is a hell of a lot of power to be absorbed by less than a gram's worth of "stuff".

There's less than a gram's worth of tungsten in a 60W lightbult - and look what happens to that...
