Hi, I have one set of shares (paper) which are worth roughly £800, I am looking to sell these, however don't have a clue where to go or who with.
I originally bought the shares through barclays about 10 years ago, however I have been informed by barclays that they no longer deal in these shares, therefore i cannot sell them through these.
The registrar quoted me 60+ euro to sell them, (after putting another post on this site I have gathered this is excessive),
could someone point me in the right direction in order to sell the shares through a company which will not extort more money out of me.

If you can sell them through Selftrade, then use the Selftrade referral scheme and they will effectively pay you to sell them.
You can get up to £80 from other money savers by going down this route.I am a Chartered Financial Planner

As Aegis says you should be able to open a Selftrade account and by means of a Crest transfer form lodge the shares in this account and sell them from there, how practical this would be, particularly if it is for a one off I don't know, but it is a thought.Hope for the best.....Plan for the worst!

Thanks, I'm just on a lunchbreak so don't have time to research this yet, (I'll google selftrade),
how would I get up to £80?0 -
If you do a search for the Selftrade Referral Scheme on this site, you'll find that a number of members are able to refer you to Selftrade (netting you and them £50), and will then hand over £30 more from their £50 as a present
As such, you will end up with £80 and will only need to pay £12.50 to get rid of your shares, if memory serves.I am a Chartered Financial Planner
