Wall rebuild and new block driveway

Just got a couple of quotes for some building work - Thames Valley area.
Our house is below the road level so have steps down from car park - supporting wall has suffered with brick spalling - looks awful but not structural - reason was early '80s use of house bricks rather than engineering bricks to save pennies combined with pressure of water from behind - the other brickwork - steps, walls etc - has also suffered both from water and bad plaster.
Engaged surveyor who recommended taking down 16 courses of brickwork, applying membrane and rebuilding with engineering bricks. Also installing extra gulley in car park above to reduce water problems. In addition, we are also taking advantage of this to have car parking area done in block paving rather than tarmac.
Quotes are £9.5k and £8.5k - in the right ball-park ?
What should I be looking for in terms of standard contract ? Just at single page quotes at the moment.

You dont say how big the block paved area is. You can expect to pay between £35 to £50 a sq metre for Paving. If you use a suitable brick there is no need to membrane the wall. Engineering bricks are not nice looking I would suggest you go to a builders merchants where you will find something that will enhance your property. If there is water behind the wall it needs redirecting properly through the wall.0
