NEWSPAPER SUMMARY - Friday 8th February

I only started to use DM's last month and only ended up using 2 as I found it too stressful!!
I usually plan my shopping list and MOC's to a fine art before I go. That way, I know adzactly what my bill will come to!!! (Sad arn't I:o ). However, because of the 'will they accept the DM' attitude, I found that I had to have back up coupons incase it was turned down! Also, because I live quite close to tesco, I tend to do a lot of smaller shops but found that when I used the DM I did a bigger shop which actually worked out more expensive for me (IYSWIM)!!
Anyway, what I'm trying to say is, I won't be using DM's anymore as I personally find it too stressful. However, I do honestly believe that if Tesco didn't want to accept them, they wouldn't!!!
I'm sure we all remember the Delicious MOC that scanned for £2.60 instead of 60p......... Tesco sorted that quick enough. Therefore, if they didn't want to accept DM's, I'm sure they could program their computers with the barcode within a couple of days!!!!!!!!!!!:rolleyes:If you think nobody cares whether you're alive or dead, try missing a couple of mortgage payments.

That's an excellent point!!
I remember having to use the rest in Waitrose0 -
Got really excited when I saw the number of replys on today's newspaper post, thought there must be some really great offer .... but sadly it was just loaded with arguments about the Daily Mail Token.
I know people have very strong feelings about the rights and wrongs of using the voucher but could we have a non-discussion post rule on this thread, like already exists on some of the other regular threads? It would make life better for those who wanted a quick update on the newspaper offers and those who wanted to discuss the rights and wrongs of voucher use could continue to do so on a sparate thread.0 -
Unfortunately the discussion came as a result of the OP making comments.
Starting a thread with a lecture to readers is bound to cause resentment to some.
And note, that as last time she did this, she hasn't actually contributed further to the discussion which she started.0 -
quoia's alert to the coupon existing is very much valued, but...............
In her zeal to pontificate over the wrongs and rights of using this coupon she often misses out valuable details, i.e. expiry date, name of book, barcode, etc. You are then forced to wade through lots of discussion posts in order to find that information. Next time please could you include this information.0 -

totally agree I thought with 25 replies there must be a lot of coupons instead i find chat!!0 -
Can we make a rule - NO DISCUSSIONS into rights and wrongs. If everyone is concerned with stating their opinion, then we should start a discussions thread.
This thread should only be for a summary of the newspapers, hence the title.
Cheers me duck
Now ive just wrote xactly the same as the above post, due to the shear amount of non-specific information...doh_____________________________________________
INSERT CATCHY PHRASE HERE0 -
Bear in mind that it was the OP who both started the thread and started the discussion.
Isn't discussion welcome in all threads?0 -

But AFAIK quoia didn't have that information, she just knew there would be a book token today - because of the date and because the printable version had become available. And I don't blame her for repeating the warning that Tesco cannot redeem it so don't use it there - maybe the info will help some newbies to avoid getting into trouble at their first couponing attempt at T.
Please Quentin, leave quoia alone - 'be nice to all moneysavers'. She's VERY reliable at posting this thread really early every day and more often than not, I don't think she is at her pc again until later on....so she could hardly continue the debate with you this morning.
And sorry, a customer should have some idea of which coupons are OK in which shop - otherwise your post above is like saying it's OK to use Asda or Somerfield MOCS in Tesco 'because they scan'. Most (non-MSE) people wouldn't dream of using such coupons in T, nor the Daily Mail book token. It's only because we've learnt a bit about spotting scannable barcodes that MSEers who contribute to this thread first tried using a DM book token at T.
Anyhoo, I am off to track down some more copies of Pregnancy & Birth magazine - now there are some coupons that really are OK to use in T.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Of course not if shes away. Though she hasn't been today, as she has clicked the thanks button in posts concerning these discussions, and found time to post on the forum both this morning and this afternoon.
But she knew the debate caused by her comments on Saturday and chose to repeat them today.
There was no need to reiterate them today. She knew it was bound to cause further discussion.0
