You might find https://www.skype.com interesting too.
Lots of people like Maplin sell Skype phones for around £25 which simply plug into a USB socket on your computer.0 -
I already have Skype installed for free calls to other computer users but they do charge for calls to landlines.0

i to have skype to make calls the other person has to be in your contact list but whilst online calls are free, i have installed this program and tried dialing my own number it works, had to register but all that was required was email address and then a password for yourself did say about non online calls being charged but you pay upfront and run credit down thank you OPDiv 1 Play Off Winners 2007

I paid the 1 Euro, but can not use it anymore. It always says " your have run out of the credit". And I went to the website. I found that I could not find the 1 Euro payment anymore. Anyone knows what the problem is?0

As far as I can see, you have to make a deposit of 10 Euros with Skype and use it all up within 6 months otherwise you lose it!0

I bought 10 Euro deposite and made calls. The point is I've got 10 Euro deposite in my account but they won't deduct any point of mine if I call those free destinations. Maybe several months later, they will charge me, but for now it's realy free and unlimited.0 -
i have followed all instructions, made a 1 euro deposit just after that i was able to make a test call to my 2nd landline ( not internet connected ) next day no response cannot connect at all 1 euro is still there just keep getting message unable to connect, this is test software , so beware it may not work all the time for whatever reason. unless of course i'm doing something wrong, any other users feedback pleaseDiv 1 Play Off Winners 2007

For anyone with a monthly download limit from their ISP. You should be aware that using VOIP will add to your download totals. If you use it a lot, it could take you way over the top of your limit and you will end up paying extra to your ISP for more downloads.
BT recently got in trouble for advertising its VOIP service as free phone calls. A customer complained that using this service took him over his monthly limit, and he had to pay extra for more downloads. This meant that the calls weren't free for the customer. BT were told to change their advertising. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?
