I also have a Direct Saver and opened the new E saver account with A&L.
It says on the site it takes 24 Hrs for money to transfer from your Direct Saver to your Premier Direct Current Acc and on the drop down menu you can only transfer it to your current acc not directly into your new E Saver.
So you will have to wait a day then transfer it again.
It does say that it takes 24 hrs to transfer but in practice, for me, it was instant. On 1st December I transferred cash from my Direct Saver to Premier Account and then immediately to my newly opened E Saver.

I've got an A&L Direct Saver. If I want to close the account, do I just withdraw the whole balance to my linked bank account and then that's it done and dusted? Have about 35k in it. Thanks.

Yes, that's what you do. But wont you wait until March 1st so as not to lose a whole months' interest?
You may have to leave £1 in there, unless you phone them and tell them to close it down.0 -
Yes. If you do it on the first of the month then you avoid the interest penalty.0

Thanks guys.
I'm not actually doing it yet - just sorting out some 'papers' detailing some accounts and what to do with them if needed for husband who has no clue as to where I've stashed everything!Your = belongs to you
