Paypal scam? Maybe not - I've been stung!!!

Not sure if I've posted this to the correct site but here goes:

I've just received an email from paypal confirming my payment to webmaster.com for 5.99 euros. This was followed by another paypal email stating that my access has been limited due to suspicious activity.

Here we go I thought, another scamming email and there's no way I was going to click onto the link to their "site".

However, I logged onto paypal using the proper channels and the transaction was there. I then logged on to my credit card site which confirmed that the transaction had been put through!

I've contacted both paypal and my credit card company, cancelling my card and disputing the transaction.

Please be extra careful if you use paypal - I work in fraud prevention and am NEVER taken in by scam emails but it looks as if someone has actually hacked into paypal. Please check your accounts and credit/debit card accounts linked to them. I know 5.99 euros is a small amount but I feel really violated!! :(

I've had an email telling me my credit card that is connected to Paypal has been taken off as it has expired, it hasn't!! The card is still valid til August!

I've not clicked on the links to add new card as I rarely use it, so I thought I'd do it later. Didn't even cross my mind it might be phising until your post!
