help please

Hi all, I would like some advise if anyone can help.

I bought a Zanussi washer dryer from Currys. It was on offer, it should of been 379.99 but i got it for 279.99.
The washer dryer arrived and was fitted by Currys. When the 2 men who fitted the washer dryer left i noticed 3 dints on the left hand side of the door. (I would guess this was caused from when they carried it into my house)
I phoned up and they offered £15 off (which i did not think was very good) or I could get it replaced when they get the same washer dryer back in stock which will be at the end of this month. I decided to take the latter option and they said they would call me in a few days to sort it out.
They phoned up today and said they will not be getting that washer dryer in stock (even though i was told they would get another 200 in at the end of the month ***EDIT**** and they are still selling the zanussi washer dryer on their website but no longer with the £100 off) and offered me a Hotpoint washer dryer which has a cost of 349.95. He said if I didn't accept this i would get a refund.
I don't want the Hotpoint washer dryer and i do not want the refund as it was a good deal getting £100 off the cost when i originally bought it. I told the man i would let him know when i have had time to think about it.

Could anyone tell me if i have any rights or if there is anything i can do in order to get the Zanussi washer dryer i originally purchased but without any dints?

Thanks in advance if you can help.

TBH I think you are being unreasonable. They have offered you an alternative or a refund.

If they no longer stock the Zanussi, how do you expect them to get you one?!
    Gone ... or have I?
  • They do have it in stock on thier website but it no longer has the £100 off.
I believe i am being told a lie, sorry if i did not make myself clear
Also the alternative is £30 less than the cost of the Zanussi washer dryer

Whether they are lying or not does not have any bearing on the facts.
You have been offered a full refund so that's where your rights end.

Youll find it difficult to prove that to be honnest.
If your not happy with it send it back and order elsewhere.

If they are saying its not available- your going to struggle prooving what stock they have in
  • okay so even though i could go on to their website now and order the exact same washer dryer that they have told me they will not be getting in stock in the future, there is still nothing i can do?

If thats the case fair enough and thanks for your replies

PS butlers1982 thanks for your reply but its not a matter of what stock they have in now, if they get the washer dryer in the future that is fine.
They are no longer selling the Zanussi washer dryer with the £100 off and that is why they are telling me they don't have it in stock and won't be in the future either and offering me an inferior replacement.

I do not want a refund as the washer dryer was on offer.
Also they took my old washer drier away so that would force me into rushing to buy a replacement

If It was me,i would be inclined to ignore the fact the one they offer appears cheaper, and research whether it is better. Have you looked at prices on pricerunner? According to the forum Whitegoods-the Zanussi ZWD 142 70W is recommended and if you go through Quidco it works out about £305 from dixons.,or £308 (with a code ) if you dont.According to the site nextag uk-this model has varied between £280 and £360 since May last year-price is just an indicator.Alternatively place a question on Hotukdeals forum-see what deals people come up with.Washer dryers can be problematic so its worth buying a recommended one.
  • Thanks for your reply hollydays, you were the only one to come up with anything constructive.
I got the matter sorted today and here is what happened.......

okay i phoned Curry's back today and asked again why i could not get the same washer dryer as a replacement. He said they don't have it in stock and will not be getting it in stock in the future. I then told him i had called the Curry's warehouse where they deliever the item from and they had told me they are getting another 438 in stock on the 7th March. He was then a little lost for words and then told me he didn't think i would wait that long for a replacement. I told him i would wait as long as i can carry on using the dinted washer dryer until the new one arrives. He said he would get back to me.
About 30 mins later he phoned back (when he had time to come up with another excuse) and said that we could not carry on using the dinted washer dryer as the manufacturers would not take back. This is dispite Curry's telling me i could use it the very first time i phoned them about the issue. He then said the only other thing he could do is offer me £30 off the cost I paid. I said i wanted £50 off , he said he couldn't do that, I said split the difference and take £40 off. He agreed.
So in the end I am reasonably happy, bearing in mind they only offered me £15 off when i first phoned them. I got the Zanussi washer dryer for £240 which they are selling on the website for £380.

I think you've had 5 Star Service then Chrisa and it would be nice to see Curry's getting a mention on the "5 Star Service" thread.:D It's a bit like that old sign you used to see up in some shops "If you like what we do, tell others, if you don't, tell us!"

If I receive very good service in a shop or restaurant I always make a point of telling a senior member of staff and on occasions I have written and praised their staff and service.

I am a firm believer that most businesses DO want to please the customer.
