    that hove for you........ :rotfl:

try the one down west street in brighton...... its fine in there.....:D
I've been in the West Street one twice and thought it was awful. Grossly understaffed-even for a Wetherspoons, more than 50% of tables needed cleaning and the bar was sticky.
I used to work for Wetherspoons and understand the issues but if Hove is worse than West Street....it must be REALLY bad !

Maybe you just look dodgy, I don't get why these places bother standing arguing, they should just say i'm not serving you and that's that. Have you escorted from the premises and leave you to stew outside.

The interesting thing is once you mention the police, they look at each other, laugh then let you in. I think its the same staff on the door, and they just think their more important than they are!

If they make it that hard for you to get in and spend your money with them, find a more freindly pub to spend your hard earned cash in...

Read my original post, because of its location its the perfect place to meet for social events (its right next door to the concert hall).

I just wish they werent all complete idiots on the doors there.

My opinion of the intelligence of door staff has just plummeted if mentioning the Police gets that sort of reaction, what would the Police do, arrive and say "Yeah, they don't have to let you in." You're right though it's all about power and thinking they're important, they live in the same group as doctor's receptionists who ask you to describe your symptoms before giving you an appointment "Actually, you're not a doctor, perhaps I should let him/her make a diagnosis and not you."

Then why do they accuse me of stealing the wallet as I have credit / debit / membership cards in the same name as the driving license. And then when I show them multiple staff cards / student cards they accuse them of being fake.

Surely thats a hell of a lot effort to go to just to get into a pub?
do they actually say 'maybe u stole it'? or do they say 'that doesnt look like u...' the only id they can accept is drivers or passport, ur student id's dont prove anything... as they are the easiest to fake...

happened to me once, some dude came in and it blate wernt his id and he started hurling abuse at me when i refused to serve him. anyway he came back another time and i recognised him and asked for his id... low and behold he produced a new drivers license with his real of 18, yet his last 1 said he was 20...

another showed me his id and it proved he was 17 and i told him to leave... he said to me 'oh i didnt think ud check it'. LMAO :D

Chuckley, I start with my driving lisence to be told 'Thats not you'. I then proceed to show them I have a wallet full of credit cards with that name on. Then I get 'You stole the wallet then'. I then show them 2 printed student Id's with my photo (new ones) and the same name and DOB as the driving license which are all fakes. I also show them a staff pass that is hollogrammed etc etc with another photo of me, with my name and DOB on and this is also a fake.

I can quote everything on any of these cards as its me! And its not like I dont even look like my driving license as no where else has ever questioned it! Even the bar staff inside accept it instantly! And even the police dont have a problem with it! (Been I'd at footie matches / bars before) So why do weatherspoons think they are so high and mighty?

Chuckley, forgot to say. I know what its like with people trying it on used to work in a bar myself. Some of them would come up with the most interesting excuses to be served, and some the most blatant fake ID's. Although I have served people who have shown ID that doesnt look like them as theyve had a hair colour change / style. One guy had hair to his shoulders and now had it shaven. BUT if you looked closely at the ID you could see it was him (facial features) but he has just changed his hair!

Did have one problem though when we refused a guy saying his ID was a fake, caused a huge ho ha. Turned out it was one of the new ones and our boss hadnt informed any of us that they had changed! Ended up apologising alot and a free round of drinks. Oops...
