How do I know who I hold CC's with?

Question is in the title really. How do I know who I hold a CC with. I ask for a few reasons, firstly because I paid off my Virgin and Egg card some months ago and asked both of them to be closed, when I log on to Virgin, it tells me that the account is deactivated, with a status showing as closed, which is great, mu my Egg one is just showing 0.00 so I don't think this has been closed? Secondly, bout 3 years ago I applied for a Morgan Stanley card to do a Bal Tfr, I needed to Tfr £1500 and they gave me a £200 starting bal so I NEVER activated the card and said I wanted to cancel, for months I got statements with zero balance, I tried ringing (''yes we will cancel it'') and wrote 4 letters and then they added £10 credit as an incentive to use, I wrote further letters, they said it was canceled, but still got statements and one day they just stopped, I dont trust what they say so want to check if im still registered as having an 'open' account with them. Thirdly, I have just received a text from MBNAMoney telling me my MBNA credit card has a rate of 2.29@ p.a on card purchases till Oct 2008 - this could be a genuine mistake when someone has provided their mobile, but again I want to check if It something pertaining to me as Ive never had an MBNA one to my knowledge!

Virgin is a MBNA administered card so that will account for the text you've had.
I would suggest checking your credit file with one of the main companies experian for a small fee £2-£5 you will get access to your file and you can then see which accounts/cards have been settled.

I would suggest getting all 3 credit reports.
You can get experian and equifax from free trial but you need to remeber to cancel.
Capital one offer a free service with experian also.
Otherwise you can get the reports for £2.
You can get call credit for free at
