I accidentally stepped on my vaio laptop yesterday. LCD screen completely shattered. not usable at all.
Its a 15.4 inch screen on a Vaio FX140E (actually bought in US a couple of months ago).
Any idea cost/how to go about repair?

If you go through Sony you'll be looking at a few hundred quid to get it sorted. If you're handy with a screwdriver and know a bit about the inside of a laptop then you can do it yourself. I've replaced many screens on laptops and as long as you're careful and methodical you should be able to do it.
As for getting the part itself, Ebay is always a good option.

you can usually pick up new screens for about £100 ish on ebay. You really need to take off your screen and look at the model on the back of the panel. If you can get this information then search for that on ebay and it should come back with lots of screens.
A small PC repair shop shouldn't charge more then £150 inc labour to fit a screen0
