Do you know how to find the installation directory? You should be able to find the .exe file that starts the game there, and if that works you can create a shortcut to it.0

Goto MY COMPUTER
C DRIVE
PROGRAM FILES
It should be in there somewhere. Electronic Arts folder? Or SIMS?
When you find which it is (Sorry, I dont have the game so unsure) find the .exe. file, (eg - 'SIMS.EXE') RIGHT CLICK and CREATE A SHORTCUT
Copy the shortcut to your desktop and click that to play
