Opening an acc for a Portuguese grandchild

My friend wants to open an acc for her Portuguese grandson(not yet born - due end Sep!) Is this possible in the UK

Yes but she will have to wait for it to be born! The bank will want to see the original Birth certificate which will probably have to be sent to their translation Dept to be translated into English.
