GPS Forerunner

Have started running recently and am thinking of investing in a GPS forerunner or similar. I am a very basic runner but I like to know how far I have run, what time etc but am completely bamboozled by the different types.

Just wondered if anyone had any advice as to which one would be best for a novice runner?

thanks

I know a fell runner who gets good results from the cheapest of the GPS-enabled Garmins (the 101, IIRC).

However, it does depend on how much of a training aid you want it to be. If you want it to include heart rate monitor or foot motion monitoring then you need one of the more expensive models.

The Garmin website has a good feature that allows you to compare the features of several models side-by-side on screen.
  • Have a look on amazon, the cheapest (101) forerunner is only 60 pounds, it's waterproof and takes AAA batteries.
