I returned an item at sainsburys the other day that was purchased on on my credit card. However, i was not issued a credit card return receipt, which i thought was unusual. The lady just hand mrked my orignial till receipt, but i said this was not acceptable, as i had no proof of refund when i check my credit card bills each month.

Is this normal for sainsburys? Everywhere else i shop i always get a return receipt as normal part of transaction..

No I don't think it's normal. They always issue me with a receipt.

Might be a good idea to contact your card provider to check the refund has been applied to your account. Alternatively, do you have online access to view your recent transactions?

If you want to check Sainsbury's policy on refunds to credit cards, their freephone number is 0800 636262.

Thye printed a credit card receipt at the time of the refund but stated that was for there records and would not allow me a copy. Sounds like i should complain to sainsburys thanks for the tele no. Ironically its a sainsburys credit card i used. That was the first time i had shopped at sainsburys for a long time and probably the last, in general poor slow service compared to Asda and Tesco.

Im a manager of a high street fashion store, and for all card refunds (debit or credit), the customer gets a signed slip for any card refund, for thier proof.

In most cases the refund will get actioned at the midnight on the same workign day the refund was actioned (monday for sat +sun) and takes up to 3 working days to appear as a credit in the customers account (dependent on the bank/card provider)

I was under the impression that the slip was given out so the customer has proof incase something went wrong, so im surpprised sainsburys didnt give you a slip, unless it was a reletavily new employee who actioned the refund for you
