can i get help with expence?

hi,

My dd has Coeliac Disease (which means so had a gluten free diet). she wants school meals and i've been told that she can if i provide the food. Gluten free food is expensive does anyone know if i would be able to get help to buy these foods. I can get bread pasta and pizza bases on precription but if im going to provide for the school i will go over her monthly allowance?

anyone !! with a little advice please.
  • TBH, I wouldnt trust the school to prepare her food away from all the other food she may have allergies too. Stick with what you are doing ATM.

Does she get a monthly allowance then from the GP? Not heard of that before.

Perhaps you should give people a chance. Your OP was only posted today and a lot of MSE'ers work. Therefore they won't have had the chance to respond yet.

Yes, you do need to give people a chance to respond. Some kind posters on here have even been known to go to the time and trouble to search for information requested - that takes time.

I am sure you have had speedier responses to other posts, but each post is different and therefore there are different timescales. By all means bump your thread, but give people a reasonable time in which to respond before you do so.

Sorry if this is unwanted advice but you did sound a bit sarcastic in post #7

I am a sufferer of Coeliac all my life, i always got prescriptions free for items like pasta, bread and several other things as it is very costly, the school should have gluten free stuff in stock or they are breaking the law, they should be more understanding, to get information go to a dietitian or diabetic clinic who maybe able to help, there is no monthly allowance. You can get as much as you like. You should NOT have to pay for it and if you do then reclaim the prescription you've paid out for by contacting your NHS office.
