Paypal dispute

Hiya

I may just be being stupid here but any help would be appreciated.

I currently have a dispute open for an item not received from a very rude ebayer.

As far as he is concerned its my property (because he said he posted it) and he doesnt accept (I presumed he meant offer) refunds.

On day 10 of the dispute he sent paypal a tracking number. This number does not relate to anything RM issue for T&T purposes.

I cant find anyway of actually saying this ~ its either close or let it carry on. Am I missing something or is that left up to paypal to look at once they realise I'm not gonna close the dispute?

Thanks in advance.

  • Yes, don't worry, Paypal will test the tracking number and when they find it doesn't work they will award you the win straight away. Whether you get your money back depends on whether the selller has any funds in their account.

It is the seller's responsibility to make sure items reach you in perfect condition, thats the law, nowt to do with Royal Mail!

I'm guessing that 'tracking number' would be some meaningless reference no. from his proof of posting.

Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j
  • don't close the dispute - if seller can't provide proof of delivery then u will win - don't let them get away with being rude & fobbing u off!:D

I think usually the tracking refs being with a couple of letters and end in GB, with numbers in between

Thats what I thought too ~ I agree with ff and its just some random number from a proof of delivery either the lost parcel or a completely different one.

    We await paypal!

  • tracking numbers not necessarily contain letter, most of tracking numbers i give to my customer only contain numbers when using other couriers like DHL, FedEx, etc.
try this link if the number he gave you work
