I really know that feeling. We have been paying back £61 000 for 6 yrs got another 3ish to go. (trying to pay more and bring it down).. I think its the endless, unremitting, soul draining, energy sapping empty feeling that gets to you. You have the initial buzz when you get everything started and think"wow. I can really do this" and then a couple of months in reallity bites and its all you can see for the next million years. It isn't, of course, and already you have brought the date down by 2 yrs. Well done:beer: ! We have learnt to give ourselves little boosts, so every £1000 off we might buy a bottle of wine and have a treat out. At first I even kept a chart because I needed to see the debt falling. My DH wasn't bothered, different people need different things. So--6yrs on we still have our house, but it has been a struggle and keeping it was the right decisiion for us. We still have about 16 000 to go, but we will get there. And so will you.
Like the others have said, I think you should tell your family. If you decide to sell you will have to anyway, so better sooner rather than later.
Your son will cope, 16yr old boys can be really maddening and selfish, and then come up with something so helpful and loving you wonder why you wanted to kill him 5 minutes ago. Give him a chance to help.
Whatever you decide to do, goodluck and keep intouch. And look at the long haulers thread!!
