Hi
We have a buyer for our property but have been informed by thier solicitor they want a gaurentee and installation details of the central heating system.
Now heres the problem, my husband and brother in law fitted the system back in 2004( my brother in law is corgi regestered) but unfortunatley we didnt get any documentation togeather. The gaurentee for the boiler was only for 12 months anyway so by this time the gaurentee as run out. I have had the boiler serviced though and suppiled the Solicitior with a service certificate from a corgi registered fitter whom i have got from the yellow pages,to state the boiler is in good working order, but this dosnt seem to be good enough. The problem is my ex brother in law is now not with my sister and due to family drift i cant ask him for any relevent advice.
Thanks for any advice upfront.

What paperwork are they after. Registering a new boiler installation only came into force on the 1st of April 2005, before this time the only requirement was to use a CORGI registered plumber. The only other document he may have filled out would be the Benchmark commissioning form and this is not a legal document at all, it is basically there for the benefit of future servicing so they can compare to how the boiler performed at the time of installation. This document is usually attached to the service record or the other documents that came with your boiler. As I said the installer is not obliged to fill it in .0

I think their solicitor is trying it on. As far as I'm aware there is no obligation on you to supply this. It is up to them to have a survey. They are stalling for time, give them an ultimatum, sign contract by certain date or it goes back on the market.0
