Abbey Credit Card unknown Credit

Received my Abbey 5% cashback credit card statement for this month. Noticed that there was a credit of £50 on 8 Jan 2008 (Credit Manual Adjustment Ex-gratia). Does anyone have the same credit? And what is it for? Thanks.

Just wondering if it is related to my complaint to their service. I got the same £50 credit couple months ago on my current account after making complaint to them .

    2 possibilities:
    You've hit the maximum 1000pound spend at supermarkets, and they're crediting you with the 50pound max cashback;

    You transferred to the new Abbey card from the old Abbey/MBNA card, which entitled you to 50pound incentive.

    If it's neither of these, I'm stumped!

    1. I still have £90 to get to the Maxi £1000. By the way, I thought they credited back the cash back every month? And they did.
    2. My Abbey card is a new card. I don't have any card with Abbey before.

    I opened my account in October 2007, this month statement still stated that my interest charged for next statement would be "0". I thought it was only 3 months' interest free for purchase. I don't understand.
  • My wife and I took out an Abbey Card just before Christmas. The cashback has been credited each month. However we have exceeded the £1,000 spend and expected the cashback to be capped at £50. It hasn't been and on checking the small print on their web site I notice they state "If we pay you cashback for purchases over £1,000 spend, we may subsequently debit your credit card with the overpayment of cashback". An oversight on their part? The cynical side of me says "no" more likely they are trying to encourage ongoing use of the card in the full expectation they will claim the cashback payments back. My advise - cut your card up as soon as you get to the £1000 mark.:think:
  • Just got a letter dated back to 29 Dec 07 and arrived today from Abbey (Quite a few PostMarks on the envelope). Confirmed the £50 credit was related to my complaint, regarding the internet online registration.
