If you go to Dartmouth on the steam train then boat ride to Totnes then a service bus back to Paignton is the round robin ticket.
Or have a return boat ride Dartmouth to Totnes then get the steam train back to Paignton from Dartmouth.
Both these options are very good
Maybe a return boat ride to Brixham daytime or early evening.0 -
thanks we are going to do the dartmouth steam train return ticket easiest and best option i thinkNo Man Or Woman Is Worth My Tears And The One Who Is Will Never See Me Cry

Most important things - Do you have kids? How old are you?
The usual touristy things to do in Torbay also include Kents Cavern and the model village (I know the model village sounds gimmicky, but kids & adults generally love it). Both are nearby in Torquay.
A day up on Dartmoor is also be fun (weather permitting). I suggest Haytor, Princetown, Widdicombe etc.
A day out to Land's End is a hell of a drive - approx 230 miles round trip.
At 130 miles round trip, the Eden Project could be better alternative.
If you intend going pubbing / clubbing (back to the 'do you have kids' and 'how old are you' questions again) them let me know (PM me or just post on here) and I'll recommend where to go and where not to go in Torbay (I live in Paignton).

I forgot to add that a day out in Plymouth (taking in the national marine aquariam) could be enjoyable.

If you want a relaxing day and a few bevvys with option of food then you could take a stroll over the hill from Paignton to Goodrington. There is a great beach at Goodrington Sands and it is walkable from Paignton. There is a Brewers Fayre pub (Brewsters) called the Inn on the Quay which is good for food and beer;children are welcome. Quaywest waterpark closes in early September though so you may miss that. We always go second week in Sept and it it usually closed.
If you want shopping then you can visit Trago Mills with it's shops and wildlife park with amusements near to Bovey Tracey. It is always worth a day out / or morning out. You can get food and drink there and there is a mini railway and other amusements.
If you are feeling fit then walk to Brixham via the coast path - we have taken a buggy but you may be better with a carrier for a baby so small. Then you can ferry back from Brixham to Paignton and have a drink onboard. Brixham is a must to visit.
HTHS!3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

What about going to Greenway House in Galmpton village. It's was the home of Agatha Christie. Or (and this is a vague discription but maybe someone can help), if you go through Galmpton there is a river at the end and you can call a man over and he ferrys you across the river. It's cheap and at the other side you can treat yourself to a lovely cream tea.
Or in Brixham go to Berry Head.
Have fun down there!0 -
Best pub in Paignton is the Spinning Wheel on the seafront. Live music most nights. Lots of space to sit outside if the weather is fine. The pub almost opposite here (attatched to the cinema) is child friendly. Paignton is very limited in the nightclub dept - there is one just across the road from the spinning wheel, one near the train station and one about 50 yards away from the spinning wheel in the direction of Torquay (upstairs at the lighthouse pub or whatever it calls itself nowadays). None are very special, but I suppose a night out with good company can be good no matter where you go!
Most clubbers from Torbay will head over to Torquay. Claires, I am reliably informed, is one of the the best clubs there and quite often has national DJs. It's close to Torquay harbour which is getting pretty crammed with pubs nowadays, so plenty of places to go for a pre-club drink.
Trago Mills *cue the shudder going down my spine* burnt down a while ago (hurray) but has recently been rebuilt (boo). I went there last weekend for some bits and bobs. The only place on earth where my partner and myself are guaranteed to have an argument. Like Marmite, you either love or hate the place. Check out the rugs - excellent prices.0
