Insuring an empty home?

We are living in Canada and our house back in the UK is very close to selling. Our house is empty and I made our home insurance people aware of this. They said this was fine at the time . Subsequently we have been informed of their 45 day policy wherein if the property is empty for longer than 45 days, the policy will be affected.
We were burgled and all the appliances were taken.
I have searched the forum for insuring empty homes and the general consensus is that if you explain to your current insurer they may continue to insure. Our insurer will not touch us due to the burglary.
Does anyone know of a company who may even consider insuring us? We are desperate to insure it for the remaining days before the sale of the property.
