My advice if you have brought one because you wanted a cheap future proofed flat TV is to keep it for now. Keep the packaging safe, and get hold of a copy of the in-store leaflet. In 11 months and 29 days return the Plasma, explaining that it is not HDReady get a full refund and buy a HDReady Plasma, which in 12 months will be much cheaper, also in 12months BlueRay / Sky HD / PS3 / XBox360 will all be in cirulation and HD Digital Video (720p/1080i 50/60) will be common place. At the moment the only true HD sources are via PC's (plus modded X-Boxes, Game Cubes, Eurosat...etc) but it is fairly specialised. You MUST keep the packaging safe and the RECEIPT you will need this when you return it.

    Regards

Will we be allowed to do this for sure? I have the flyer that says its HD ready. It will be brill if we can keep it for a while whilst the price of plasma's drops, then get our money back to buy a telly that is actually as advertised :T Thankyou!

I've long since chucked my leaflet away for this. Did it not have an E&OE statement on it? Not a lawyer, but if it did have the caveat and the carton had indeed been changed to HD Compatible, I'd say you wouldn't have a leg to stand on. You'd probably get goodwill in the short term, but I think they'd view you as taking the P if you turned up in a year's time....
I really must stop loafing and get back to work...
