Broadband telephone filters

Hi All
Have just read this thread, and am a bit baffled by the filters....
My sister has Tesco broadband (for her sins), and was supplied 2 filters.
She has her adsl modem conected to an ext box with a filter in, which is in turn plugged via an adaptor into the main bt box. Should she put the other filter into the main BT box or is it a case of using a filter where you use the PC.
I do hope that i've written this out right, or that you understand.
Cheers

You need a filter anywhere where you are connecting a normal phone. But you only need one filter between your phone and the exchange - so it depends how your sockets are wired.
If you have one BT master socket, and all the extensions come from there, you can use one filter there - the filtered output to all extensions other than where your PC is, and the non-filtered to the PC room. Then in the PC room you need another filter splitting the signal between the phone in that room (if there is one) and the PC.
If you have no phone by your PC, you probably only need one filter.
BUT if all of the sockets are connected "directly" to the exchange (probably if any extensions were fitted by BT rather than by yourselves), you will need a filter on each socket (but leaving an unfiltered line to the PC).0 -

Thanks for your reply, I think I follow it. I am round my sisters tonight, so i am going to have a play and see what we can come up with.
Once again Cheers
