Broadband telephone filters

I need another one of these filters. Does anyone know the cheapest place to get one?

Or has anyone got a spare they would like to sell me?
I say what I like, I like what I say!

    I recommend

Personally I've got the Fujistu filters.

Cheap filters can be a false economy as they can cause problems.

this website is expensive. My local pc shop charges £4/filter. Amazon sell them for 1pence +P&P.

Dabs had them for under £3.

He`s right, I found my budget filters would not allow caller ID to work when my adsl router was on, the BT eqivalent filters from the range at:

    http://www.spabroadband.com/shopping/acatalog/ADSL_Filter_Products.html

sorted this out. Incidentally this firm charged low postage and delivered fast.

  • I've got the Fujitsu FDX100 ADSL Microfilters and they work without any problems. Altogether I have 5 around the house: 1 shared phone/ADSL modem, 3 phones and the Sky box.

Many people reported problems with the cheaper filters so I wasn't tempted!

I was given a filter someone got from Onetel. Had loads of hiss on the telephone line when connected to the internet. Installed a Fujitsu filter from adsl-filters.co.uk and all the problems disappeared.

Cheap filters really are false economy.

When we got our Broadband we only fitted one filter where the broadband line and phone used the same extension. We didnt bother about the other phones and Sky box. We haven't had any problems with the line or caller ID.

Am I missing something here, why should I fit 3 additional ones?
  • You only need to install a filter at any point where you use a phone. If you only have one phone, you only need one filter. I would have thought that if you stick a filter in anywhere a broadband signal is required then it will filter out the data and you presumably won't be able to get online from that point in your phoneline onwards (although I've never actually tried it). Do your other phones connect directly to an unfiltered point in the phoneline, or are they cordless ones taking their signal from the [filtered] base unit?

We have a phone and computer in study which has a filter. There is also a phone plugged into the main socket in the hall and a phone plugged into a socket in the dining room. We also have a Sky connection which runs off the socket in the hall.

As I said they all work perfectly, no crackles or hiss and we have caller id on the phone in the study and the dining room.

I got about 4 of those 2 years ago from ebuyer for £1.47 each and never had any problems, so I can't say cheap is bad...
