banked cocked up, need a little advice

i have over 40k stoozed, and do very well thankyou!!
i have never missed a payment etc etc.

However, i got a call from one of the cards (Natwest) who said my usual monthly payment had not arrived. I was actually quite impressed with them for this.

I obviously said there was an error, as i knew the cash had left my account.

It turns out that my bank (Halifax) had problems integrating a new payment system, and several payments due to leave did not make their final destination.
Hence the payment left my account but never got there.

Halifax have agreed to write a letter to me explaining the issues so i can forward it onto Natwest, they have refunded me the £13 late payment fee.

But, they have not confirmed if i will or will not lose the 0% deal, though i am sure i can convince them when i get the letter to re-enstate that.

what i am more bothered about is my credit record which until now is flawless, and how this late payment might now show.

do you guys have any similair instances where this ha happened to you and did the late payment end up on your report, and if it does, can it be removed.

thanks in advance

  • If it is not your fault then you should not be worried.
If the Halifax have conceded that they are at fault then tell them that they will have to stump up any interest you are charged as a result of their (non) actions.

i have not had any experiance of this, but have read other people on this very forum, say that they have been in similar circumstances, and the if the bank(natwest in your case) has put a late payment on your credit file, then they can get it removed if you ask them too, and they are satisfied with your reasons, which they will be.
Take every day as it comes!!

when a mistake like this happens it is the banks responsibility to write to the credit agenvy and confirm fault. I have had a numerous number of late payment marks taken off, when it wasn't my fault :)
