Me neither - especially at this time of year, it should be at it's freshest and tenderest

Before anyone else asks. How do you make rhubarb jam? Do you have to have a special kind of saucepan, I remember something about it taking the lining off some types of saucepan. I tend to stew mine in microwave so unsure. Can I make it in the breadmaker? Thanks in advance.:j0

Hi kippers,
I've have only made rhubarb jam once but didn't peel the rhubarb. There was no sign of skin in the jam.
pmorrisjones there's a thread on making jam that should help. I'll add this thread to it to keep the replies together.

I use a big preserving pan. You need to be careful with rhubarb and aluminium - the oxalic acid in the rhubarb can leach out the aluminium, which isn't so good for you

You wouldn't make Rhubarb jam at this time of year, would you? It's at its best right now, a nice crumble.... yummy.... whereas the best Jam is made latter in the season.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

My lot wont eat rhubarb so i stew some for me and make my lovely jam with it. I have quite a bit down my allotment and i don't like to waste it. I really love homemade jam for breakfast and i ran out of my last jam (blackberry) about a month ago. I must be very sad as i'm looking forward to it for breakfast soooooo much tomorrow morning0

Ah, if you're suffering a glut, I guess that explains it. I tend to use Rhubarb up in wine production, and Ice cream.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”
