Hi yraunaj
My daughter is muslim and vegetarian, and my SIL is muslim but not vegetarian. I find it easiest to just cater for them both as vegetarians, as halal meat is difficult for me to get around where I live.
If you are able to get halal meat, then as reesdhetin says, just steer clear of pork/bacon/ham and you'll be fine

Check all ingredients to make sure there is no gelatine in. If your not sure only buy things that have the veggie stamp on it.0

You can do fish, most of it is allowed, something with tuna in for example?Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:
I have done reading too!

Avoid lard too if you're making pastry.
No alcohol.0 -
They are guests and presumably know you are not a Muslim. If you like to have meat meals, ask whether they are content to have regular (ie non-halal) meat. There isn't one "standard" for Muslims - some would be able to have meat which is not labelled "halal", particularly when eating at the home of a non-Muslim.0

Hey, basic rules are:
-No meat that is not Halal (halal meat can be brought from any South Asian cash and carry)
-No pork
-No alcohol in food/to drink
To be honest with you I certainly wouldn't risk getting non halal meat in the hope that they don't mind eating it. The majority of Muslims comply with their religions dietary rules, with the exception of a few.
Depending on whether you're hosting a casual or formal dinner party, I would go for non-alcoholic cocktails and a little chit chat before dinner. Maybe prepare a vegetarian lasagne, or one made with halal mince in advance and just pop it into the oven 30 mins before they arrive (Use this 30mins to prepare any side dishes). Make simple individual chocolate mouse pots the night before and pop them in the fridge ready for the meal the next day. Whip up some cream, and casually throw a few raspberries onto the plate before serving!0 -
If you have an Asda close to you, they have a Halal section in the butchery cabinets. At least mine does.
Have you tried asking them if they have any food preferences? I'm sure that they would be only too happy to say if there is something that they really don't/can't eat or have a preference for.0 -
I would ask them. Some people are more strict with religious customs than others. Best not to assume and just ask them to let you know if they have specific dietary requirements that you need to cater for.Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0
