Just a quickie.
OH's head gasket on his P reg Toyota Paseo has gone, and we've been quoted £450 - 500 for repair. Does this sound about right?
Thanks :j

it sounds a bit much to me,but it depends exactly what the garage are going to do,and charge per hour for labour,
most of the cost on repair bills is the labour not the partsI

Yes. At £450-£500 the job will have been done properly. It can be done cheaper but shortcuts are usually taken such as not skimming the head and just replacing the cambelt instead of also fitting a pulley kit.0

Pardon my ignorance and may have to slap my wrist later, but what is a Paseo? Is it an import - I've not come across one ......Genie

We won't tell anyone, we would not want that.:D0 -
Got to agree, price sound fair, get it done properly short cuts on that sort of job will only bite you back in the long run.0

That's a good price, they wanted 800 quid to fix our MG ZR.. so we used a head gasket sealant solution, temp fixed it then flogged it to a dealer0

Have to agree its a reasonable quote. I was quoted £600 to do the head gasket in my old M Reg punto. In the end I decided it wasnt feasible for me and sold the car .0

Thanks so much all of you. Glad to see they're not ripping us off as we'd found a garage we like and seem to be trustworthy.
I'd not heard of one before we got him, but I like him a lot. He's called Pascal (don't ask!).******** Never be a spectator of unfairness or stupidity *******"Always be calm and polite, and have the materials to make a bomb"0
