provisional driver just passed test - what now?

my son passed his test yesterday - do I need to inform my insurance company, as he is a named driver, that he is now no longer a provisional driver

anything else we should be doing??

    Yes you must inform your insurance company, if and when he gets his own car you cannot insure it in your name with him as a named driver to save money, he must insure it with himself as the main driver.

    When my son passed his test at the end of 2006 his insurance went up by £90 they said it was because he would be driving on his own and was more of a risk, because he was always accompanied by a qualified driver before he passed. I was a bit shocked by it but I suppose it makes sense.

    you got off lightly, we just had to pay £245 for the 6 months left on the policy

    He was 24 years old when he passed his test, Don't know how old yours was but perhaps that made a difference
