Is Atlas Travel Insurance OK

Options
Atlas Travel Insurance have given me a really cheap quote for single trip travel (Worldwide ex USA). I have read the policy, and it contains everything i need. Is this company any good, or will i regret taking the cheapskate route?

  • I bought the Atlas Insurance last year, and I too was unsure as they seemed such good value and was concerned maybe their cover was lower. Whilst on holiday in Greece my son had an accident and cut his chin open, it was very deep through to the jaw and we took him to get treatment ourselves as we had a car and the 5 star hotel we were staying in did not have an onsite doctor, and we were 24 miles away from the town. The hotel told us where to go and gave us directions, after the emergency was dealt with and my son stitched up and panic over, I read my insurance policy and it stated that only medical treatment obtained in state hospitals would be covered. Fortunately the private clinic I went to provided written letters to say this was an emergency and it would have been impractical to travel 24 miles to get to the state hospital in an emergency.

Atlas did cover costs, but I did not renew my insurance policy with them and have paid the extra to go with Marks & Spencers, although I'm not sure if they are any better!!

I have read many good reviews on Atlas, but I just thought I would mention my experience.

Thanks for the reply, i will go with it. I am only after the accident (hospital) cover for Asia (bad drivers), cheap enough for that...must remember to end up in a state operated hospital if any thing happens

If you are not sure if M&S are any better then what are your reasons for choosing to go with them?
